Eda’s Top 3 Priorities

Throughout my career in community work, I’ve learned that we can’t fix every complex problem overnight. But I have also seen firsthand that when we lift each other up and empower our neighborhoods, we build a much stronger, more resilient community.

Today, we face many pressing challenges and none of them can be overlooked. Balancing all of these needs is tough, but I believe we must start with a clear focus. That is why I identified my top three priorities for Ward 5 as Affordable Living, Thriving Youth, and Building Communities.

Affordable Living - Affordable Housing

My son is a high school student in the riding, and I have had the chance to connect with many parents in all walks of life. The mutual concern is all about the kids’ future. I believe in the power of youth and I know that when we support them, we will be able to build a better future. We will help them to build their future.

Referring to the affordability crisis, the youth is in distress of their household, not alone they can focus on their classes or their recreation.

I will push to have better, and more affordable recreation for everybody. Sports should not cost an arm, and families should not sacrifice on their kids’ activities.

As the candidate for Waterloo Ward 5, I am spending my time speaking with the people of our community. I hear firsthand the challenges specifically with the increase in cost of living, and lack of affordable housing. I will put my economist hat on to thoroughly review our budget and outstanding projects, finding ways we can achieve real savings for residents. Will try to find ways to fast track affordable housing constructions. And will focus on potential fiscal relief projects.

Thriving Futures

Building Communities

Waterloo is a wonderful city with many resources for everyone. But not everyone knows about them. I will sit down with the residents, plan events and backyard chats, and share connections, we will build relationships.
